SAM Minor Name and Address Changes Fix is Live

Several GSA contractors have been getting emails suggesting that a name change modification must be executed on their contract when they have not in fact changed their company name. When a contractor updates their SAM registration, this information is then pulled over FSS online and if even a slight variation has occurred in the name, it would trigger these emails.

However, good news! GSA has implemented a solution to bring over the name and address from SAM.gov to FSS Online when minor name changes are detected. This means that those pesky emails should no longer be plaguing your inbox (which invariably cause a surge of panic amongst the recipients!).

What constitutes a minor change?

· Addition or removal of periods.

· Addition or removal of commas.

· CORP to CORPORATION or vice versa.

· CO to COMPANY or vice versa.

· Incorporated to INC or vice versa.

· Addition or removal of parentheses.

· Addition or removal of spaces.

· Addition, deletion, or placement change of the word “THE.”

· Suite number moved to the address line 2 data field from the address 1 data field.

· Abbreviations in the address such as Rd vs. Road, Ave vs. Avenue, Dr vs. Drive, etc.

When one of these minor changes is detected, GSA will issue an email notifying you of the minor change, and the system will automatically update with no action from you, the vendor.

If a true name change has occurred, then a formal modification request needs to be submitted by the vendor in eMod and processed by the Contracting Officer.

You can read the full update here on GSA’s Interact page.
